The National Patient Experience Survey will assess patients’ overall experience of their stay in hospital. With 40 participating hospitals and an estimated 27,000 patients eligible to participate, this is the first survey of its kind in Ireland and will be the largest single survey of the healthcare system to be conducted in Ireland.
The survey is a joint initiative by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health and all data collected will be used to shape future healthcare policy and improve health outcomes for patients.
Who can participate in the survey?
All adult patients who are discharged from a public acute hospital from 1 – 31 May 2017 will be asked to participate in the survey. Eligible patients must have spent at least one night in hospital and have a postal address in the Republic of Ireland. Patients will receive a survey pack in the post approximately two weeks after their discharge. The survey can also be completed online up until 26 July 2017.Read Abstract
