National Patient Experience Survey- update

Source: HIQA; HSE; DoH.

The National Patient Experience Survey has now closed. Participants’ responses have provided a valuable source of feedback. This is now being analysed by the National Patient Experience team. From December 2017, the results of the survey will be released. The following will be published: a national report; six hospital group reports; 39 hospital reports.

All hospitals must have at least 30 responses to have their results published. This is to protect the identity of participants. All published reports will be available through this

The HSE will then use the results to develop and implement quality improvement plans at both hospital group and hospital level. Quality improvement workshops will be held in August, September and October 2017. As the National Patient Experience Survey is repeated over time, it will become possible to monitor and evaluate quality improvements.
