The Government agreed in 2006 to the creation of a single national tertiary paediatric hospital, into which the services of the three existing children’s hospitals would come together. Paediatric acute services are currently provided by three hospitals in Dublin – Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital, and the National Children’s Hospital in Tallaght – currently overseen by the non-statutory Children’s Hospital Group Board.

The new entity will provide complex paediatric services for children from all over Ireland and secondary care services to children in the Greater Dublin area.
