Falls and syncope are common in older adults. Currently, falls account for 4% of the healthcare budget while syncope accounts for 1–2% of all emergency department (ED) presentations per year in the United States. Given projected changes in global demographics and advancing age, the management of falls and syncope and their consequences will become even more pertinent in the near future.
